"Canned Ham II: The Next Generation"

Yesterday I finished the first pass on the new-and-improved full-length Canned Ham. As mentioned elsewhere, I'm not simply reinstating the material we cut to bring the show down to 60 minutes for the Provincetown run. Some of that material will remain G-O-N-E gone! Some of it did go back intact, but mostly the excised material was rewritten to fit seamlessly with the changes in the current script. But most exciting was working on a couple of entirely new sequences Kevin and I have been thinking about. Who knows if they'll ever see the dark of a theater, but I like how the look on the page and they should be--one bit in particular--very fun to stage.

Of course this is all theoretical at this point since we're still trying to figure out exactly what the best next step for Canned Ham should be.

Oh, the suspense is killing me!

  2. Theatre companies will have a choice of Canned Ham versions(e.g. Albany, L.A.,P-town)to perform, the same way opera companies can do the Dresden or Paris versions of Tannhauser (of course Wagner had it easier because there's no accordion in Tannhauser). Throw in the Canned Ham, Jr. version for elementary and Sunday schools and you'll really be up to your neck in licensing fees.
